Celebrating, Still!

Hello!

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday! Mine was fantastic.. and now I'm blissfully enjoying my winter break! Which, as you can tell from above, involves lots of food...

1) Icicles... one of my favorite things about winter!
2) I love warming up by the fire on these chilly winter days.
3-4) My friend's mother baking up an army of gingerbread men... The whole house smelled like Christmas!
5) Trips to the video store with my dear friend Melina. I really want to take more pictures of the inside of that place, it's so interesting.

More to come soon!

Birthday!

Last week was my birthday-- finally 18! :)

I had such a wonderful day, filled with the people I love. I also got a new lens for my camera, which I've been obsessing over. I am so lucky, and incredibly grateful for all that these past 18 years have brought for me. I'm also wonderfully excited for the next stage of my life, and all the things I will see, do, and (perhaps most importantly) eat!

Hope all of your holidays are coming along splendidly! (4 days to Christmas!! Ahhh!!)

Tis the Season..

December is such an exciting month! From my birthday (5 Days!) to Christmas 10 days after, with finals right in between, life is a combination of stress and excitement. I need to keep reminding myself to slow down, take a deep breath, and not let the season pass me by!

Alex's wearing: Dress/ Tulle. Over-the-knee socks/ Urban Outfitters. Boots/ Steve Madden.

Hope your holiday season has been a joyful one thus far! :)

Holidays

Lately, my household has been in full-on holiday mode. We spent Thanksgiving with family at my uncle's house, and it was full of yummy Lithuanian foods, ukulele solos by my sister, and general family chaos.
And then came the Christmas.

My mother has a strict policy-- no Christmas before Thanksgiving. Too early, she always says. We'll get sick of it by the 25th. So we refrain from putting on carols in the car and putting up trees until Thanksgiving feasting is through. And then we go crazy.

Every year we pick out a real tree to place in our family room-- this is the tree that gets all the meaningful ornaments, and becomes a big production. We put on carols and drink hot chocolate and argue over the placement of ornaments. It's tradition.

This year I'm incredibly excited for Christmas. The lights, the seasonal beverages, the snow... everything about it makes me so happy. Not to mention my birthday quickly approaching... ;)

I'll be posting more as the festivities continue. Until then, happy holidays!

Life

                                          Hello lovelies!

There's what I've been up to recently...

1.) Over the knee socks, my new obsession. I got this red pair from forever 21 and they are beautiful, and so cozy!
2.) Latest outfit, incorporating my socks, of course! In this picture, I'm also sporting the Coach bag my mom gave me. It was hers in the 80s.
3.) This is my favorite candle. It smells like apples, and my house has been fragrant with its scent as of late.
4.) My lovely friend Sara giving some love to my friend's new kitty. Had to share this, isn't it adorable?
5.) Topknot and big sweater. All day, every day.
6.) Grandma's dumplings! The definition of comfort food, in my book.
7.) Utilizing our fireplace soon, the wood's all ready!

Weekend Finds

This weekend, I helped my grandmother at a church sale, and I went shopping! Above are some of the things I found, and I thought I'd share them!

1.) 'A' Mug, Anthropologie-- I've wanted one of these for a long time. I've been drinking everything out of it all weekend, even water!
2.& 3.) I found this sweet little vintage box at the church sale. The inside lid is beautiful. When I saw it, I thought it would be perfect to store photos when I get the Fujifilm Instax Polaroid camera I've been eyeing!
4.) My new glasses from Warby Parker! I just got them last week, and I am so obsessed with them.
5.) Melina gave me a crate full of burnt out lightbulbs to use for installations. I was absolutely elated! She gets me ;)

I also got a new pair of boots, and lots of sweater tights! Outfit photos to come!

Cupcake Adventures

This weekend I ventured into the wonderful world baking...or the wonderful world of spoon-licking, as my darling friend Melina did a lot of the actual baking! I saw a recipe for cupcakes on A Beautiful Mess and I immediately felt a desire to try them!
The best recipe I saw was for peanut butter jelly cupcakes. Everyone who knows me knows that peanut butter is my greatest love, so making those were a must.
The cupcakes actually turned out super well! To be honest, I was surprised how good they were. The recipe we used was vegan, which meant there were no eggs in the batter, so excessive spoon-licking was a go!

Here are some pictures of the different kinds of cupcakes we made:

1) Peanut butter frosting with Reese's on top
2) Cinnamon Sugar-- Butter cream frosting with cinnamon
3) Peanut Butter frosting with a jelly middle. Also my attempt at artsy cupcake decoration with pieces of an ice cream cone on top.
4) Good ol' sprinkled cupcake for my sister, butter cream frosting.
5) Hannah enjoying her cupcake!

All in all this baking adventure was much fun! I have at least 10 cupcakes waiting to be eaten, I'll have to pace myself, somehow! I had such a wonderful time baking with Melina. I have already begun dreaming of different cupcake possibilities for next time!

Lately...

It's only Tuesday, but this week is already beyond busy! I'm already counting down until the weekend again. I've been taking pictures like crazy recently, and I chose a few to post here. I had a weekend full of dressing up, dressing down, and painting polka dots on my nails (first attempt seen above... possible tutorial soon? Maybe when I master the technique.).

I've recently been stressing out with all of the hullabaloo over college applications, and I need to remind myself to slow down. It's okay to take a deep breath, and curl up with a blanket and a book every once and a while. Goals for this week:
                1) Finish applications.
                2) Finish essays.
                3) Take a well deserved bubble bath.

Hope all of your weeks are going smoothly! I'll be back with more later :)

Alex's wearing: Top/ Old Navy. Skirt/ Thrifted. Belt/ Thrifted. Shoes/ Target. Sunnies/ H&M.

Hello loves!
Autumn is in full swing here in Chicago, and I love every moment of it! My sister Hannah and I have been going crazy for all things fall: sweaters, seasonal Starbucks brews, and

1) Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks-- I'm obsessed! Tastes like pumpkin pie in a cup, such a wonderful fall-inspired treat! Hannah and I made a Starbucks run to warm us up before going outside to take pictures! (Also loving my coffee colored nails right now!)
2) Yellow is everywhere right now, and this tree in particular is my current favorite. I love the contrast between the sunny leaves and the sky!
3&4) Convenietly, Hannah's sweater matches all the trees! I love this sweater on her; it's cozy and comes in the perfect fall hue.
Also, isn't she stunning?!
5,6, & 7) I am in love with this red skirt. Only $4 at Goodwill-- such a great find! I also got these Oxfords on sale for $10 at Target. I love this outfit: easy, casual, and totally fall appropriate!

I'm so excited for these next few weeks, with Halloween quickly approaching! (Stay tuned for my costume!) The leaves will be down soon, so I will be soaking in the beauty while it lasts!

Au revoir!
Alex
